We spend a lot of energy hunting for the easy version.
The job with no stress. The relationship with no friction. The training plan that somehow skips the uncomfortable middle but yet we want to succeed.
But here’s the quiet truth: there isn’t one.
Staying is hard. Leaving is hard.
Speaking up is hard. Swallowing it is hard.
Showing up on the grey mornings is hard and so is the slow ache of knowing you keep talking yourself out of it.
Everything costs something. That’s not bad news. It just means the question was never really “how do I make this easy?” It was always “which hard is worth it to me?”
The gym is a small, honest version of this. The session is hard. Skipping it is a different kind of hard the one that shows up later, quieter, wearing the face of regret. Neither is free. You just get to pick.
So, this week, when you catch yourself waiting for the easy option to appear, try swapping the question.
Not “is this hard?” to “it will be hard.”
Ask “is this the hard I actually want?”
Then choose it on purpose. That small shift from avoiding hard to choosing it is where most of the good stuff quietly begins.
