They're not the loudest one in the room.

They just say the right thing at the right time.

"Nearly there." "Good rep." "Break it up, you're fine."

Now think about what you say to yourself when the wall balls get heavy.

Or when the bar feels slow.

Or at 9pm when you're lying in bed replaying something you said at work.

Most of us would never let anyone speak to a friend the way we speak to ourselves.

We'd step in. We'd say something.

That voice in your head is on every set with you. Every round, every hard day, every good one too.

It might as well be a good training partner.

It doesn't have to be fake cheerful. Good partners are honest.

"That round was slow, settle in." is honest.

"You're hopeless." is just rude.

So here's the challenge this week.

Wednesday is forty minutes. Saturday is forty minutes with a partner.

When it gets hard, catch the first thing you say to yourself, and ask whether you'd say it to the person beside you.

If you wouldn't, swap it for something you would.

See how much further that gets you.
